How to Create a Keyboard Macro in RK Launcher: A Step-by-Step Guide

by RK Gaming

Introduction

Still smashing the same complex keys over and over? A keyboard macro lets you turn repetitive combos—like taking a screenshot, opening ChatGPT, typing saved phrases, or launching your entire "work toolkit"—into a single press.

In this guide, we’ll show you exactly how to set one up in RK Launcher to save you some serious time.

How to Set Up a Text Shortcut Macro?

In this example, we’ll show you how to map a frequently used phrase—like a greeting or a standard email reply—to a single key.

We'll be using the RK S98 for this demonstration, but the process is the same for any RK keyboard supported by the launcher.

Step 1: Open RK Web Driver

Using the latest version of Chrome, Opera, or Edge, click here to open the RK Launcher web interface.

Step 2: Connect Your Keyboard

Switch your keyboard to Wired Mode and plug it in. In the software, click "Select Device" and pick your model from the pop-up in the top-left corner.

Tip: If it doesn't show up, double-check that your physical switch is set to the 'OFF' or wired position.

Step 3: Access Macro Manager

Click on "Macro Manager". You can edit the existing "Macro 1" or click the "+" (Add) icon at the bottom to create a brand new one.

Step 4: Customize Your Settings

Select your new macro entry. Here, you can rename it, adjust the time delay between actions, or set it to loop.

For most text shortcuts, keeping the default settings (as shown in the screenshot) works best.

Step 5: Record Your Phrase

Click "Start Record" and type exactly what you want to automate—for example: "Welcome to Royal Kludge!"

Hit "Stop Record" when finished, then click "Submit" to save.

* Mistake? No worries. Just hit "Clear" to start over, or select a specific action and click "Remove".

Step 6: Bind the Macro to a Key

Go back to the "Keyboard Setting" tab. Click the key on the screen you want to use, select "Macro", and choose the phrase you just recorded.

Step 7: Pro Tip — Use Layers

If you don't want to lose the original function of a key, bind your macro to a different Layer.

This way, you can trigger your macro by pressing FN + your assigned key, keeping your main layout clean!
